Site Announcement: Brief Hiatus

Don’t often write site announcements, but I just wanted to let all the visitors and subscribers know that there’s going to be a brief gap in stories appearing on the site over the next week or so as I am busy moving into my new house.

In the meantime, it would be great if we could hear from some of the readers out there. Drop me an email at info [at], or just write a comment on this post. I’m curious to know what you think about some of the stories that have been written, and the ideas that have been covered. Is there anything you would like to see more of? Criticisms? Compliments? Would you like to see more non-fiction stuff on the site like interesting news articles, or maybe ideas about story writing in general?

Whatever you’re thinking, let us know! Thanks for the continued support.

I am Javier, the founder of

    about The Future of Everything.

If you guys ever consider writing about the Future in a non-fiction mode, Id be pleased to read and publish your article at Trendirama.

I read your post about Luis Von Ahn and was greatly impressed.
    keep up the good work!

this is a great blog. i have a particular liking for the ‘non-fiction’ fragments – especially the Luis Von Ahn /Dream and the Wasting Art, Wasting I posts.

Thanks so much Joy and Javier for your comments, I really appreciate you guys taking the time to get in touch.

I must apologise for the really big delay in writing new material, I’ll be posting something very soon in the next few days, as well as an update on the site itself. Thanks (everyone) for your patience.

The non-fiction ones tend to be my favs as well, simply because they help me visualize ideas for my fiction writing. Wasting Art, Wasting I in particular was a great one for me, too.

Thanks again, and I hope to see you both back here in the future! (Horrible pun intended).

Fabrication II

Written by on April 1, 2007 | Book Fragments

“Get up,” said a disembodied voice.

Groggy eyes awoke in a stupor of gummed-up sleep. The walls were gray now, the room tinier, darker; the mirage was off, but something else was missing, like waking up in a hospital without knowing your leg had been amputated. Reality flittered in from the edge of dreams that were scuttling away into the darkness, that brief moment where consciousness and illusion collide into a confusing fragmented mass.

No external memory. Disconnected.
